Family Ties: Are Your Holidays Joyous or Jarring?

Family Ties: Are Your Holidays Joyous or Jarring?

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” according to holiday ballads. This may be true for some people. But for many, the holidays might mean putting relatives in the same room who have not spoken to each other in decades. Or inviting blended families to your dinner table and hoping the first spouse will not spew invective at the one who “upstaged” her.

Yes, this time of year can be fraught with challenges. But according to the Akashic Lords, it’s all karma.

We sometimes choose to incarnate into a family where we feel unfairly treated or even abused or abandoned. It’s important to realize that karma is not a punishment. Rather, it is the completion of a lesson our soul chose to learn. That doesn’t mean, however, that the lesson is easy to learn! Most souls work on learning their big karmic lessons over many lifetimes.

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Karma…

The Akashic Lords explain karma this way: when you “jump out of the life story” you’re currently living, you forfeit the wisdom your soul intended. An example would be an unhappy marriage. You are unhappy but do not want a divorce. Instead, you “leave” the marriage through drugs or alcohol, working late, or having affairs. You didn’t work through the issues causing the unhappiness; you ran away and abandoned the others emotionally. The fact that you didn’t learn how to communicate effectively, share your feelings, resolve your inner conflicts or control your temper means you didn’t learn the lesson your soul wished to learn. You’ve now incurred a karmic debt.

Because of this debt, you will return in another lifetime to complete the soul growth you avoided when you jumped out of your “story”.

In these subsequent lifetimes, you are challenged with the same emotional issue within different contexts. You may have an alcoholic parent or spouse because your soul wishes to learn about this situation from the other side. Your soul may want to learn how to work with the emotions and trauma the situation brings into your life in a clear and conscious way.

In this next life, you may be the spouse who is abandoned for alcohol and affairs, leaving you to wonder what you’ve done wrong. You may retaliate by having an affair of your own. You may become verbally abusive to your spouse and family because you feel so hurt. Eventually, you’ll find yourself in a karmic loop or pattern.

But it’s useless to “blame the messenger.” The person committing the “abuse” is simply the agitator bringing up the thoughts and feeling within you that your soul wants to transform. When you hate someone for abandoning you and you retell the story repeatedly, it is your heart being ripped apart, not the heart of the abandoner. The key to end the suffering is actually simple, though not easy: forgiveness.

Forgiveness Is Your Fortress

When you forgive a person for the pain and trauma they have brought on you, you remove their power to hurt you. You claim your ability to heal and move forward in your life. This is tremendously important to note, as suppressed emotions such as anger, revenge, hatred, rage, jealousy, insecurity, guilt, unworthiness, fear, grief, depression, despair, and powerlessness are all emotions that poison the body. These emotions resonate at the lowest vibration on Earth. We’re finding that this long-term emotional poisoning can trigger illness in our bodies.

Forgiveness is part of our personal work. We are learning to facilitate our soul’s growth, not others. We learn forgiveness to heal our own lives and hearts. When we realize the depth of compassion it takes to forgive ourselves and others, we come to a place of understanding, and with understanding comes compassion. The Akashic Masters say that forgiveness is the path to divine love, and love is the path to awakening. This is a large part of why we as souls come to Earth school.

What many don’t understand about soul contracts is there isn’t a right or wrong way to complete them. Every choice is just that, a choice. Before we embody each lifetime, our soul chooses what to work on so we can move forward on our path. Some of the many choices include deciding who to connect with personally and professionally, and determining the highest next step in our plan, which includes what karma and contracts we are to complete.

Choosing to Vibrate to the Christmas Spirit

The Akashic Record Keepers share with us a powerful truth: remember everything is vibration. As you heal yourself, your vibration rises, causing ripples of positive energy. Those ripples move out into the world to assist others in their own healings.

Here’s a beautiful example: I did an Akashic healing session for an older gentleman, Sam. He and his brother had been in business for thirty-five years, and his brother had been mad at him for over fifteen of them. Sam decided fifteen years was too long not to have a relationship with his brother, so he committed to forgiveness, no matter how long it took.

He told me that one day his brother walked into the office saying, “Well, I guess sometimes you have to forgive.” And that was it. Sam’s brother was no longer angry with him. Sam shared what a miracle being able to talk to his brother is to him, and he’s grateful for the Akashic Record’s healing prayers.

You raise your energy and vibration when you complete karma or support someone in a soul contract. So often we find that fantastic new possibilities show up right after a tough lesson is completed. You are reaching and activating the soul potential you came in with.

Throughout our lives we may find ourselves being asked to stand in our truth, either in a particular situation or with someone we know. Resistance to doing so may block our own path, making us wonder why we are not progressing the way we desire. If you’re feeling stuck, perhaps there is a Truth with which you need to align or even demonstrate. The following prayer is offered to support you.

Mother, Father, Goddess, God, I stand strong and clear in my Truth.
I know it is my truth no matter who disputes or disagrees with me.
My wisdom is great and I trust the guidance
I receive no matter who may challenge me.
I stay centered in my heart and connected to Source.
I release any fear that I am not loved or loveable.
I AM Love.

So it is. Blessed Be.

Wishing you all a happy, aware holiday season…
