Standing at the End of the Bridge

A lot of us are at the end of a chapter and it feels like we’re standing at the end of the bridge, not yet able to take the step needed to arrive in the new place.

Unfortunately, humans often resist change, which can keep us stuck in the chapter we want to put behind us. Add in fear of the unknown and we can remain stuck in a place our souls are ready to move on from. Fortunately, your Akashic Records can give you the information you need and the courage that’s necessary to cross that bridge into the next chapter.

Finding the Courage to Cross

I’ve known Marilyn for a number of years. Her commitment to exploring past lives through her Akashic Records has ushered her into several new chapters in the time we’ve been acquainted. When she reached out to me recently, Marilyn knew she was standing at the end of another bridge but unsure why she felt stuck there.

“My mom just turned 90,” she told me. “Something just feels different between us, like we’re out of synch. But I don’t know what it is or how to make it better.” As her primary caregiver, Marilyn spent a lot of time with her mom and the off-kilter energy really bothered her.

“I don’t know if it’s something I’ve said or done,” she said. “And I can’t seem to figure it out.”

When we opened Marilyn’s Akashic Records we saw her as a young police officer only on the job for a couple of weeks. A report of a robbery sent her out with her partner to investigate.

“Stay behind me and pay attention,” the elder officer told her. When they arrived at the store, the robbery was still in progress and the owner and his wife cowered in the back while the thief emptied the register.

“Follow my lead,” Marilyn was told. At first, she followed orders. But when she saw an opportunity to run to the back of the store to get the couple out, she took it. This spooked the thief, who started shooting randomly, taking down her partner.

Before she realized what was happening, the thief had run out with a bag of cash, the owners stood in the back screaming and crying, and her partner was dead.

We watched as Marilyn tried to regain her senses in the middle of this surreal situation, all the while knowing that had she obeyed orders, this probably would not have happened.

She lied to the officer investigating the shooting, making it seem as if the thief randomly decided to begin shooting rather than telling the truth that her sudden movement to the back of the store caused her partner’s death.

Within a month, she had quit and moved home. Marilyn never took another job the entire time she was alive. Instead, she found ways to make herself useful around the house, and as her parents aged, they grew to appreciate her help instead of resenting that she was there.

She died alone in the house, middle aged and living off the money her parents had left her when they passed. She never recovered from the loss of her partner.

What This Means for Marilyn … and for You

We returned to the present and Marilyn was silent at first. When she found her voice, she told me the changes in her relationship with her mother made perfect sense.

“I am sixty five years old and until recently, I was still taking orders from my mother. I always believed she knew best and that I wasn’t capable of making good decisions.”

She shared a couple of examples of times her mother instructed her to do something, and although she wanted to do it differently, she couldn’t quite get past the fear of speaking up.

“This has happened my entire life,” she admitted. “And not just with my mom but with bosses and friends and even in my volunteer work at the church.” She paused for a moment.

“But now that my mother is so much older and not capable of taking care of herself in the same way, I am the one giving instructions. And I have not been comfortable with it at all. Now I know why. I’ve never believed I was capable of making the right choice about anything.”

I heard from her several weeks later and the change was remarkable. “I am more comfortable making the decisions that are necessary,” she said. “I feel like I released an energy that affected every aspect of my life. I finally feel ready to step into that next chapter, which I know will probably not include my mother.”
