Answering the Big Why!
The middle of the night can be a powerful time for questions to arise. Haunting questions, like:
“Why am I here?
What is my purpose?”
For most of my life, I searched for that answer in this three-dimensional world—through relationships, career shifts, and the relentless pursuit of “doing.” It felt like chasing an imaginary carrot I couldn’t quite grasp. I felt confused about what to do next. I know I’m not alone. I’ve talked with many clients who feel lost, alone, or uncertain about the future.
While some may consider this to be a philosophical issue, it is also an emotional and biological one. That low-level hum of everyday anxiety, the sudden spikes of fear, or the fog of confusion are not just “parts of being human.” They are often symptoms of unresolved trauma stored deep within your energetic field. When we view our lives through the narrow lens of the “struggling human,” we see only obstacles and accidents. But from the “soul” perspective, these very patterns are the sacred keys to our evolution.
I understand this deeply because, for many years, I wandered in that same wilderness, disconnected from the map I was given at birth.
How The Akashic Records Helped Me Go from Devastation to Awakening
My own awakening was forged in the fires of grief. At thirteen, my world was uprooted. My family moved away from everything I knew, and shortly after my “Soul Sister,” Marsha, underwent surgery for a simple headache and slipped into a coma. I was devastated, consumed by my inability to fix this. My heart screamed that I should know how to heal her, yet I stood powerless.
In the depths of that sorrow, a door cracked open. I began to experience vivid, visceral flashbacks of other lives—not as dreams, but as memories. I saw myself as a Shaman in Peru, a Buddhist monk in Thailand, and a healer in an ancient Persian mystery school. These flashes of insight confirmed what my soul already knew: we are far more than these temporary bodies, and our connections transcend time itself.
Yet, the human heart can only take so much.
When my other Soul Sister, Shuby, died in a car accident a few years later, I broke. Believing I had been abandoned by the Divine and my soul sister, I turned my back on my spiritual studies, moved to San Francisco, and spent the late 1970s working as a bartender. I traded mystery schools for disco lights, trying to drown out the emotional distress that was quietly unraveling my health and my spirit.
In my thirties, my body started to fall apart. After a year of physical healing, my acupuncturist looked at me with startling clarity and said, “I can help heal your body, but not your soul. You need to go inside… to resolve the trauma that’s making you feel so lost and confused.“
She sent me to Jan, a spiritual therapist. In our first session, Jan looked directly into my soul and delivered the words that shattered my defenses:
